Here are my top three takeaways for doubling your income:

  1. Focus:

This might seem obvious, but it’s crucial. Especially in the early stages of building a business, focus is everything. Diversification is important for long-term financial health, but when it comes to growing a business, especially a franchise, giving 100% of your attention to one venture initially can be the key to success. This is particularly true for home-based franchises or executive semi-absentee franchise models where your time is already divided. Later, once you have a solid team and systems in place, you can explore diversification.

Tips for maximizing focus:

  • Unsubscribe from distractions: Eliminate unnecessary emails, limit social media consumption, and minimize contact with negative influences.
  • Reinvest wisely: Diversify your investments outside your core business in areas that require minimal time and effort, like real estate syndications or passive income streams. This allows you to focus on what you do best: growing your business.
  1. Own Your Calendar:

This is HUGE. Don’t let your calendar control you. Take charge of your time by scheduling your priorities FIRST. This includes personal appointments, family time, workouts, everything. Then, open up the remaining slots for business appointments. This ensures that your most important commitments are honored.

Tips for owning your calendar:

  • Use scheduling tools: Allow clients and prospects to book appointments directly on your calendar, eliminating back-and-forth emails.
  • Schedule buffers: Include short breaks between appointments to avoid burnout and allow time for follow-up tasks.
  • Prioritize ruthlessly: Learn to say “no” to commitments that don’t align with your goals or drain your energy.
  1. Mindset and a Massive Action Plan (MAP):

Having a clear vision for your business and a detailed plan to achieve your goals is essential. Reverse engineer your goals, starting with the end in mind. Then, develop a MAP – a Massive Action Plan – outlining the specific steps you’ll take each day, week, and month to reach those goals. (I highly recommend Tony Robbins’s work on MAPs and James Clear’s Atomic Habits for practical strategies.)

Tips for developing a powerful mindset and MAP:

  • Review your MAP daily: This keeps your goals top of mind and reinforces your commitment.
  • Focus on atomic habits: Identify the small, consistent actions that will compound over time and lead to significant results.
  • Be flexible: Your MAP isn’t set in stone. Be willing to adjust and adapt as needed.
